Leyard scores with disposal of old equipment during installation at CNBC
CNBC Europe, the leading pan-EMEA business and financial news network, recently refurbished their London-based main newsroom. As the most viewed pan-European financial TV channel, the broadcaster reaches over 100 million households across the continent. CNBC Europe produces several hours of live programming each weekday and airs reports and content for its global sister stations and the outlets of NBC News.
In 2019, when CNBC started the evaluation process for a replacement of the previously installed video wall made up of rear-projection cubes, the requirements on bezel-free design, high resolution and a smooth curved design, resulted in the choice for an LED video wall.
Well advised from the start
Working closely together with our local application engineers and the design team in the factory, the customer got convinced by our offering at an early stage in the design phase already. After proposing them the different options from our portfolio for such installations, they opted for our prime TVF Series product for their newsroom. A closer look on the needed camera angles and viewing distances, the 1.8mm pixel version turned out to be the ideal choice for the studio.
The approaching US elections and the planned coverage of them from the London studio brought a little more pressure to the issue.
Recycling as key winnning factor
Thanks to our production facilities in Europe and the associated short delivery times, we were able to complete the project within the short time frame. Also because we were able to dismantle the existing installation of rear projection cubes and dispose of it properly due to the corresponding permits.
Installed in a 24x6 configuration, the 144 cabinets create a uniform studio backdrop screen with a total width of 14.5 metres and 2 metres in height. The overall resolution of 7680 x 1080 equals four 16:9 Full HD windows next to each other, which allows CNBC to create their graphics in a common format without the need to convert them to odd image formats. The mounting structures, designed by our in-house design team, guarantee a smooth flow of the video wall with a ninety-degree curve.
